Apiary-backed Shaw Gibbs continues expansion with the acquisition of DNG and Harmer Slater

Shaw Gibbs, a top 50 UK accountancy firm, has completed the acquisitions of DNG Dove Naish (DNG) and Harmer Slater (HS), taking the total number of bolt-on acquisitions to five since Apiary Capital’s investment in November 2022.

Like Shaw Gibbs, both businesses are known for their commitment to client-excellence. DNG has operated in Northamptonshire for over 50 years and its team brings a wealth of expertise to the Shaw Gibbs family. HS has been serving southwest London for 21 years and expands the capabilities and geographic reach of the Shaw Gibbs group.

“DNG has a well-earned reputation for delivering exceptional service. The management team’s enthusiasm for their ongoing success and the opportunity for growth shone throughout the deal process,” said Managing Partner, Peter O’Connell. He continues “We are equally delighted to welcome HS to the Shaw Gibbs family. The addition of the new offices to our group not only extends our footprint, but also allows us to provide an even broader range of services to our clients.”

“We are thrilled to support Peter and the Shaw Gibbs team as they continue to expand,” said Chris Heawood, Investment Director at Apiary Capital. “DNG and HS are well established accountancy firms, both having a loyal client base, a wealth of experience and a commitment to providing the best for their customers. We look forward to continuing to work with Shaw Gibbs as it goes from strength to strength.”

These two acquisitions bring the Shaw Gibbs group to 290 people based in eight offices in central and southern England, providing clients with exceptional accountancy, tax, business, and strategic advisory services. Shaw Gibbs’ acquisition of DNG and HS builds on its previous successful acquisitions, underscoring the firm’s dedication to growth and its ability to adapt to changing market dynamics.

Apiary Capital invested in Shaw Gibbs in November 2022 to support the management team’s ambitious buy-and-build strategy.
